Upshift Cycles, the ultimate mom and pop bike shop, began life when Stephanie and Eric Slocum, two bicycle nuts in San Jose purchased La Dolce Velo Bicycles from Rob and Jacquie Mardell in March of 2022.

A long time fixture in the community, La Dolce Velo had helped many people get on their first bikes or even their first dream bikes. Upshift Cycles aims to do the same. We want to keep everyone cycling in our community, from casual cruisers to road racers, from commuters to mountain shredders. We believe bicycling is for everybody, no matter what you're riding.Whether you are an experienced cyclist or new to the lifestyle, Upshift Cycles is your bicycle shop in San Jose.

We don't want to just sell you a bike, we want you to be part of our community. At Upshift Cycles, we'll make sure you get on the bike that is right for you. From initial sale to ongoing maintenance, our expert care and customer service will help you achieve all your cycling goals!

Upshift Cycles carries a wide range of commuter and recreational bikes to entry-level road and high-end racing bikes. Upshift Cycles also strives to meet the needs of women cyclists with bikes, apparel, and accessories designed to fit the female form. For those new to cycling, we'll help assess your needs and goals, then help select the bike that's perfect for you. Our certified bike fitters will make sure you're ready to roll with a custom fit, and we'll help you maintain your bike for the long haul. For the more experienced cyclists, we have a superb maintenance department with e-bike and Di2-certified mechanics to keep your bike performing at its peak. We also have a staff of experienced cyclists, trainers, and coaches who can help you perform at your best.
