Bikepacking 2024 Ride #3 – Solstice at Portola Redwoods State Park

For this wonderful Solstice Ride, we are heading into the Forest Moon of Endor, the Portola Redwoods State Park.

Route:

This ride has a bit more climbing than the last one but is a little bit shorter, and a fair amount more serene. The Portola redwoods are nestled in-between Skyline and Alpine Road, the best way up to there is Page Mill. From Alpine road and the top of the ridge we will descend into a canopy of Redwood trees that would make the Ewoks jealous. Dappled sun-light will kiss our faces as we bathe in the hushed splendor of the forest. If it happens to be open still when we get there the visitors center is a lovely experience resplendent with hearth and comfy couches. There is no cellular reception with in the park, but there might wi-fi if you need that for some reason.

Notes/Suggestions:

This site is quite remote so we will need to bring in everything we will need. As it will be the middle of June it will probably be quite warm during the day, however because of how the site is nestled into the canyon it could be cold that evening. Your ticket purchase covers meals, drinks, campsite, sag, and first-aid trained ride guides. Please ride safe and sober!
