With the Surly Cross-Check, you get an "able" off-road-worthy, 700c-wheeled steed. It's cross-raceable, tour-able, and commute-able, all at a very reasonable price. Surly went to great lengths to ensure compatibility with all available tire widths; single, double, and triple cranksets; as well as cantilever and linear-pull brakes. The result is a great, multi-purpose bike that will go just about anywhere and is very purchase-able, too.
