Through an exclusive partnership with KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and MIPS, the Mio 2's CAD designs were shared, and the malleable skulls of young children were studied with Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Because toddler-aged children's heads are softer and still growing, using low-density foam – and more of it – was the outcome of this partnership.
Coming out of the KTH and MIPS partnership, the Mio 2 increased the amount of low-density foam inside by 16.5%, only growing the overall size of the helmet by 2.5%.
